At Queenstown, our puppy owners become part of our extended family. We love staying in touch and sharing updates with our Berner families. We also strive to be a lifelong resource for our puppy owners, offering support whenever needed. That said, we understand that not everyone wants this level of interaction, and that’s okay! Finding a breeder whose approach aligns with yours is important, so we encourage you to do your research and choose the best fit for you.

We are a small breeder, typically having one litter per year (though it is not always guaranteed). Because of this, we carefully select homes for our puppies, and our waitlist is often full before a litter is born. While we try to honor a first-come-first-serve approach when possible, many factors—such as litter size, gender, and timing—come into play. We firmly believe the right puppy is worth the wait and usually arrives at just the right time.

Is Our Program the Right Fit for You?

 

To ensure our puppies are placed in the best possible homes, we have some specific preferences for potential owners:

​

✔ Waitlist Timeframe: Our waitlist is typically a year or more. If this is too long for your timeline, we kindly ask that you do not apply.

✔ Location Preference: We prioritize applicants in Virginia (VA) and Maryland (MD). Occasionally, we may consider homes further away, but as a general rule, we prefer our puppies to stay close.

✔ Experience Level: Our ideal puppy owners have prior experience with Bernese Mountain Dogs. We also consider experienced large breed owners, followed by those with general dog experience. First-time pet owners are the lowest priority but may be considered in exceptional cases.

✔ Home Life & Care: Our dogs thrive in homes where someone is home full-time. They should not be left alone for long hours. For vacations, owners must either take their dog with them or arrange for a trusted person to care for them at home—kenneling is not allowed.
